IMAX And China Media Capital Launch a $50 Million US Film Fund
A year ago IMAX Corportaiton, IMAX China, and China Media Capital agreed to co-fund a series of 10 tent pole Mandarin-language films. Richard L. Gelfond is now expanding this deal with a goal to “…generate the highest-quality Mandarin content for Chinese and international audiences alike.” The upgraded deal now plans to cover 15 films, each of which will receive contributions between $3-$7 Million US.
IMAX has historically done very well in China, and last summer had four digitally remastered hits including Time Raider, For a Few Bullets, Cold War 2, and Skiptrace, screen in over 290 of their theaters.
